Welcome!

Here at Barnet United Reformed Church we extend a warm welcome to people of all ages. Whether you’re just visiting, or looking to grow in your connection with God as part of a fellowship of Christians, come and meet us! These pages will give you a brief introduction to who we are.

Our Mission

With Jesus Christ at the centre, we seek to:

  • Worship God through our services and our fellowship with others 
  • Preach Jesus by showing and telling of the grace of God 
  • Serve and care for all with compassion and love, respecting the dignity of all

Remembrance Sunday

On Sunday, all are invited to gather at the War Memorial (near the corner of Wood Street and the High Street) for the Civic Act of Remembrance which commences at 10:40am. Wreaths will be laid on behalf of a number of organisations in our community – including Churches Together for Chipping Barnet, and our 1st Barnet Boys’ Brigade & Girls’ Association and 7th Barnet Brownies – and the Two Minutes’ Silence will be observed.

Following the Civic Act of Remembrance, we take the short walk back along Wood Street to Barnet United Reformed Church where a shortened service will begin around 11:20am.

Barnet URC will be open from 10:30am, with live audio broadcast from the Cenotaph in Whitehall, for those who may prefer to go directly there instead of attending at the War Memorial.

Church Meeting

A reminder that our Church Meeting takes place on Sunday (27 September), beginning shortly after the conclusion of Morning Worship. Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate, as we share together in discerning the mind of Christ for our church’s ongoing work and witness.

Our Agenda for this meeting includes:

  • proposals regarding the shape and features of our Sunday worship
  • exploring possible Eco-grant funding
  • our church’s representation on other ecumenical and URC committees/groups

Whilst any voting which may be required is reserved to church members, nevertheless all are welcome as a breadth of insights and perspectives is really helpful!
